Synopsis

The film is about children living in the Himalayan Regions of Nepal. The harsh life they lead and the difficulties they face in everyday life. Education plays a vital role in any kid's life but, here, almost 50% kids do not attend schools for uncountable reasons. Some of them have to work in their parents' fields, some cannot afford to buy stationeries, and some simply cannot travel long distance each day to get to school as every village does not have schools and even if they do have one it is in a critical condition. Students in certain areas struggle immensely to get education, they walk long distances each day crossing rivers, dangerous trails and sometimes put their lives at risk in that sort of landscape with heavy snow fall, just to get to school. Comparing the kids from the cities to the ones in the
Himalayan region it seems like the city kids are very fortunate to have such an organized life. They get Tiffin boxes for lunch, school buses pick them from there doorsteps. Some parents in the Himalayan region would rather have their kids work in the fields than in schools. To get proper medical treatment in this area is impossible because it is so remote and basic medical treatment can be performed if you are lucky. None of the schoolshere have First Aid Kits which is essential. Still some students are aware of the wisdom they will get from studies which will help them to have better life in the future.

Directors Statement on how the idea of making this film came.

How did the idea occur of making a documentary film about it?

Jass : While I was shooting my previous documentary in Manang I spend a lot of time with the children there. They used to be around me all the time while I was filming it. I used to tell them to go school but they had reason not going there. Some of them had to work in the fields, some of them had no books or stationeries etc.  I personally went visit the school and saw that the schools in those regions were really in bad conditions. The students had to walk very far every day. Crossing rivers, and even walk while snowing. I started comparing with the city schools and there were so different. The life of the children in the cities has such a easy life. They get Tiffin boxes for lunch, school bus picks them for there door steps but nothing for the students in the Himalayan regions.

After the film is done what are your plans?

Jass : The film will be screened for fund raising. We will approach Nepali communities abroad and Non profit organizations around the world to organize shows and generate fund to help these children. The raised fund will be given to the village community. They will spend depending on the needs of the students like buying text books, note books, pencils, cloths, books for the library or build a library. Repair floors, leaking roof, drinking water arrangements, first aids etc.

I would like to thanks you for this interview and would like to invite every indivisuals to come forword to support this nobel cause.
