Synopsis

Mustang- secrets beyond the Himalayas’ is an adventure documentary film on one of districts in Nepal, Mustang. It is a kind of a travel log where a traveller explores the whole year in Mustang.
The traveller’s search for the hidden secrets in Mustang leads him to Marche, foothills of Mount Nilgiri (23,157ft.) where the yak blood drinking festival is held. Gurusangboo cave which is believed to be the border of Tibet in ancient times, Marpha which is the village of apple orchards, Muktinath, the only pilgrimage site in the world where Hinduism and Buddhism is practised.
Thorong-La Pass (5416mts), one of the best high pass trekking routes. The traveller also educates about the culture and lifestyle of the inhabitants in Mustang. Festivals like Yarthum (Horse race), Dhajyang (Archery festival), Kumar Jatra, Dhepek (Monk Dance) and Bara Barse Mela, a festival which is celebrated every 12 years is also well portrayed. The scenic beauties of the Himalayas like Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m/26,787 ft.), Tilicho (7139m/ 23,415 ft.), Nilgiri (7060m/23,157ft.), Throng Peak (6488m / 21,286ft.), Yak kharka (6482m/ 21,266 ft.), Mt. Bhrikuti (6361m, 20,664 ft.), Tukche peak (5877m /19,270 ft.) are well traced.
Mustang situated in the Himalayan region of Nepal covers an area of 3639.58 sq. km. It starts from an altitude of 2000m to 8167m. Nepal, once a kingdom now a democratic country is nestled between china and India and crowned with eight world’s highest peaks. It is divided into 3 regions, the Terai, the hills and the Himalayan region. It is a land of over 70 ethnic groups, each with its unique culture and language and ancient history and people, bio-diversity and grandeur.

About the film

Mustang (secrets beyond the himalayas) is completed now and will hit the theatres in Nepal this October in the festival season.
